February Presidential Election
The Constitution of the Union of Democratic States states that, "The President is elected every four months, alongside their Vice President under a joint ticket, in a two day election that shall conclude at the end of February, June, and October, and shall be sworn in on the first day of March, July, and November.”
The candidacy form for the February Presidential Election accepted responses from 11:00 pm EST on February 24th to 11:00 pm EST on February 26th, after which a list of candidates was released. Nuevo San Miguel and Phoenix Coalition both submitted candidacy forms for the election, designating Zeneste and Glaciosia respectively as their running mates. No invalid forms were submitted nor were any candidates invalid. There was a campaign period from 11:00 pm EST on February 26th to 10:00 pm EST on February 28th.
The Presidential election ballot was announced and accepted responses from 10:00 pm EST February 28th to 10:00 pm EST on March 2nd. In total, 28 ballots were submitted, of which 27 ballots were valid and one ballot was invalid. The ballot in question was invalidated because the nation name listed was not an existing nation, nor was it one that had CTE'd.
Of the valid ballots, fifteen went to Nuevo San Miguel, ten went to Phoenix Coalition, and two went to Re-Open Nominations. Nuevo San Miguel won 55.56% of the valid ballots, Phoenix Coalition won 37.04% of the valid ballots, and Re-Open Nominations won 7.40% of the valid ballots, meaning Nuevo San Miguel has been elected President and Zeneste has been elected Vice President.
