A MOTION
To amend UL-012
Introduced into the SENATE of the Union of Democratic States on the 28 of November, 2021, by SUPERSAURUS
As follows:

WHEREAS the Constitution Day is currently outdated due to the passage of a new constitution,
BELIEVING that it is in the best interests of the Union to update the date of Constitution Day,
AWARE that an amendment to UL-012 is necessary for this, and
THINKING that other new regional holidays can and should be created,
HEREBY AMENDS UL-004 as follows:

Section 1: Definitions and Short Title
1. This Act may be referenced as the "2021 Update of the Regional Symbols Act"

Section 2: Provisions
1. Section IV of UL-012 shall read as follows:
"1. The Union of Democratic States shall have the following days as holidays, known as public holidays:
a. Union Day, to be celebrated on 18 December each year, in commemoration of the founding of the region.
b. Regional History Day, to be celebrated on 23 October each year, in commemoration of the founding of the historically significant nation of Zion Imperium and for the recognition of regional history.
c. Constitution Day, to be celebrated on 22 May each year, in commemoration of the date of ratification of the most recent Constitution.
d. Creation Day, to be celebrated on 13 November each year, in commemoration of the website "NationStates" going live.

2. The President shall be tasked with coordinating the celebration of those holidays which fall within their present term, and may make preliminary arrangements for those that fall outside it.

3. To facilitate the fair working of the Union’s organs of government, the Legislature and Judiciary may declare other days to be holidays, known as common holidays, by their respective rules."

This is just a reintroduction of this because I introduced it too late and as such lapsed because it was not finished before the Senate elections >_>

This basically just updates the Constitution Day with the Kronstitution happening a while ago, and also adds Creation Day to mark the creation of NS because why not.

I would like to petition that section 2(d) "Creation Day" be removed from the bill. The creation of NationStates the game has no real bearing on the UDS.

I agree.
I also propose that section 2(c) be amended to 21st May, the correct date for the ratification of the present Constitution.

Other than that, I have no objections to this Amendment to the Regional Symbols Act.

The following amendments have been proposed:
1. Section 2 Clause (d) be removed from the bill.
2. Section 2 Clause (c) be amended to 21st May, the correct date for the ratification of the present Constitution.

Those in favour may say Aye, those against may say No.

I think the Ayes have it, the Ayes have it. The amendments are approved.
