Proboards has served as the steadfast foundation of our forum community for the past two years, functioning as host to turbulent trials, electrifying election campaigns, sweeping government announcements, and delicate administrative directives. The proboards forum served as a testing-ground, proving that the Union community is capable of fostering and maintaining a robust forum. After an extraordinary and exciting period of internal discussion, investigation, consultation, research, and organizing, and by the selfless generosity of Administrator Phoenix Coalition and the hard work of Administrative Assistant Glaciosia and Technical Consultant Kade among others, we are proud to unveil the Union’s newest online assets: www.forum.theuds.org and the www.theuds.org web family.
This announcement constitutes the launch of our new self-hosted forum, utilizing the Xenforo platform. While Proboards does not allow for the export of accounts to a new forum, registering is made easy by way of a discord integration. Register an account here to log in with discord and immediately gain familiar roles and permissions. Additionally, the discord integration allows for notifications that we will set up and utilize in the coming days. While forum content cannot be scraped from the proboards forum, sub-forums and other pages have been set-up and important threads have been copied over. We will be locking the proboards forum in the coming hours and we intend to resume normal operations on our new forum immediately. Just like the former Zetaboards forum, the historic Proboards forum will be preserved for archival purposes.
As with any change in infrastructure, we ask for your patience in this transition. The new forum has been set up such that members will be familiar with the structure of subforums and recognize the classic green Union theme. While we have done our very best to set-up and test new features, there are likely several matters we have missed. We ask that you report any bugs, ranging from permissions to other features, here so that the Administrative Team can promptly address and fix them. In addition to establishing a new forum, we also unveil https://www.theuds.org/, the Union’s new website which offers unique link shortening and image hosting capabilities.
The web hosting, the domain name, the Xenforo services, the discord integration, and the donations integration are paid services, some of which require annual or quarterly renewal. Administrator Phoenix Coalition selflessly stepped forward to pay the up-front cost for these services so as to jump-start these improvements and advancement efforts. To ensure the continued use of these critical services please consider making a donation here. The Administrative Team will not profit from these donations and funds collected past what is required as a baseline to sustain UDS properties will not be accepted. Administrator Phoenix Coalition is handling finances for the Union with Thatcher Whitehall and Ark monitoring financials by way of routine checks.
